Shameless Plug
When I was a youth pastor we used to do a two week, every night, VBS. I was in charge. It was more than exhausting. The amount of work that went into each night was simply amazing. Coordinating busing, prizes, teachers, curriculum, etc was as complicated as putting together a full school year for our Christian school. The energy level that we sought to maintain, for two weeks straight, was off the charts. You had to walk that fine line between getting the children excited about that night, more excited about the next night, and calm enough so that they could go to their individual classes. Looking back now, it was fun, crazy, and blessed by God. Many children made decisions to follow Christ and to walk with him in obedience. I look forward to heaven when we hear all that the Spirit did in the lives of the children.
The church I presently pastor is hosting a Vacation Bible School next week. We have not done one for quite a while. Every night next week, starting at 6:00 pm we will gather together to have fun, share the Word of God, do some crafts, and eat a great snack. One night there will be a giant trebuchet chucking things about one hundred miles (or so). Why a trebuchet? Because we have one. I hope that if you are in the area that you will load up your cars with neighborhood children and bring them out to our VBS. I love the theme, “Ready, Set Move...Follow Jesus Here, There, and Everywhere”. Jesus had one plan to turn our world upside down...he was going to use faulty disciples to spread the Gospel. We are praying that out of our VBS many children choose to follow Jesus with such great passion that they infect their families, their communities, their country, and their world with a love for Jesus.
If you are unable to join us, would you pray with us? Millions of people have participated in a VBS. It is nothing new but it is a great opportunity to share Jesus with our children. Thank you, in advance, for your prayer cover. We are excited about what God is going to do.
